About

Hi, I'm Trevor Bice, the developer and designer behind Trevor Bice Webdesign.

This all really began when I was about twelve years old, going to school at Jacoby Creek Elementary in Bayside, California. My school had a program that taught kids HyperText Markup Language (HTML) using Adobe PageMill. PageMill was considered extremely advanced for the time, but no one really knew how to use the technology properly yet. It was a lot of fun learning how the pieces fit together, even without a guide to show the way. That experience opened an important door, and it set me on the path to the developer I am today.

I built a lot of websites in high school, and earned money on the side between that and fixing computers. Professionally, my career started at Washington State University in 2002, working in the Distance Education branch of the WSU Libraries as part of my work-study grant. I had fairly broad discretion over what I worked on, which gave me the freedom to learn a great deal and experiment with web programming. I spent several years there gaining experience, and eventually built my own simple content management system (CMS) for Professor Mike Alfaro's website in the Evolutionary Biology department.

When I finally moved back to Arcata in 2007, I had the chance to work for a small development firm called JCS Marketing. They were working with a brand-new open-source content management system that had just shown up on the scene: Joomla. Having already built my own CMS, I realized immediately that Joomla was going to be a hit. Now, with more than 150 websites built, I've become a real guru of all things Joomla.

More recently, I spent over seven years on the engineering team at Burning Man Tech. When that chapter ended in late 2024, I came back to what I've always loved most: working directly with clients, building and maintaining the websites and custom software that small businesses and nonprofits rely on.
